“This year’s Finalists exemplify the extreme definition of Visionary,” said Melanie Martin-Jones, NAWBO Columbus President. “Not one of them is content to simply be successful. Together, they have really raised the bar for what it means to be a woman-business owner in Central Ohio.”
Each year, the NAWBO Columbus Visionary Award honors one Central Ohio woman business owner who has achieved success with her business while making notable contributions to her community, her industry, and to initiatives for other women in business.
NAWBO Columbus hosts this coveted award as a prestigious way to recognize and showcase the amazing women who not only own and operate businesses that are vital to Ohio’s economy, but also find time and resources to identify needs and drive social change.
“Each of our Finalists has an amazing story,” said Andrea Nameche, 2012 Visionary Committee nominations lead and a NAWBO Columbus past President. “They have overcome incredible obstacles, they have never quit, and they continue to work very hard to make sure our economy and our business environment remains strong and filled with opportunity.”
The award begins with peer nominations and involves a detailed application and selection process. Nominees of this award are all women who are majority owners in their businesses, are registered in the State of Ohio, and have their businesses located within a 100-mile radius of the Columbus metropolitan area. Their businesses must be well established, profitable, and growing.
The Visionary nominees were selected through a nomination and application process by a committee comprised of NAWBO Columbus members and Advisors. The nominees and the selection process remain confidential until the finalists are announced.
The single winner will be announced at the 15th Annual Visionary Award ceremony on July 19, 2012 at 11 am at Renaissance Columbus Downtown. The Keynote speaker at this gala celebration will be Cindy Monroe, CEO of Thirty-One Gifts.
